Taproot is a digital publishing company headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. Our mission is to help communities understand themselves better. Our flagship publication, Taproot Edmonton, delivers reliable intelligence about the Edmonton region.

At Taproot, we're curious, we choose courage, and we care. Everything we do is imbued with these core values.

As remote workers, we put an emphasis on having safe and healthy work-from-home setups and practices. We also prioritize a healthy work-life balance and encourage flexible working arrangements for all staff. We do not require or encourage overtime.

We have publicly committed to work towards answering the seven calls to action issued by the Canadian Association of Black Journalists and Canadian Journalists of Colour. We have also publicly committed to live up to the spirit of the Truth and Reconciliation's calls for the media to include more Indigenous people and be more aware of Indigenous history.

Taproot respectfully acknowledges that we are located within Treaty 6 territory. This land is the traditional home for many Indigenous peoples, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, Dene, Saulteaux, and Anishinaabe. The area we pay attention to is part of Districts 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. Many Inuit people call this place home, as do others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our vibrant community.
